We’ve almost finished the RFID technology upgrades and changes to our library computer system. Tomorrow (Wednesday 15 May 2024) our Richmond, Motueka and Tākaka Libraries are closed.  Our e-Resources, library catalogue, and the Library App won't work between 8pm Wednesday 15 May and Friday 17 May, but all our library branches will be open on Thursday 16 May. However we will have limited services, so you might want to wait until Friday to visit your local library branch.

Last week Richmond Library closed so new door alarms could be installed. Our staff took advantage of the closure to improve the layout of some of our more popular collections.

We've created a larger home for the growing Te Ao Māori Collection. This collection is now in the space previously used for adult non-fiction recent returns. These have moved into the next row over, at the start of the adult non-fiction.

We've added a new seating area, and our Māori language materials, including adult non-fiction, children and young adult titles, picture books, early readers, books with waiata on CD, and te reo Māori language learning materials, have all been moved to this area.

We've been adding more te reo Māori items to our e-Book collections, so if you or your child can't find what you are looking for in our physical collections, there are more te reo Māori materials available for free with your library card through the Libby App (Overdrive) and Borrow Box App (Bolinda).

We also made some changes in the Children's Area: the children's graphic novels, talking books, illustrated stories, readers and magazines are along the glass wall. The Parenting Collection has had a spruce up too, and there is a new area for sophisticated picture books.

Next time you visit your local library, if you can't find what you are looking for, or you want to know more about the Libby or Borrow Box apps, please see library staff.
