Tuku26 Whakatū Heritage Month is a collection of community-focused events celebrating Nelson Tasman's unique and diverse cultural heritage. Multiple organisations and community groups run their own events with support from Nelson City Council. Below are the events taking place at Richmond and Motueka libraries. | Nicole Russell Exhibition | Nicole Russell is exhibiting artworks with a focus on whānau, community and ancestry at the Richmond Library. Nicole’s lifelong interest in the historical aspects of her surroundings and her connection to family, friends and community was especially reinforced by the isolation experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nicole believes that "beauty, strength and guidance are influenced by your surroundings, the present and the past. Historic structures are witnesses of life, love, whānau, ambitions and connection to the land. They are witnesses of time and experiencing them can fill you with pride for your ancestry and strength for your future." | All April | Opening hours |

| Picturing the News with Alistair Hughes |
From documenting the Christchurch quake, to Covid and the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, Alistair Hughes has illustrated and designed award-winning visual reference for all of Stuff's newspapers and online site. Along the way he has also produced numerous children's books, regular cartoons and interviewed some fascinating personalities, including Sir Michael Palin, Bill Nighy and Graham Norton. |

| How to Look at Art with the Suter Art Gallery | Join Suter Art Gallery curator Dr. Kyla Mackenzie for a special show and tell for art lovers. Learn how concepts of architecture and pictorial construction are evident in the artworks of New Zealand artist John Weeks (1886 – 1965), including The Suter’s African City (c.1950). This is an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the artworks and the artist himself, who spent time in the studio of French Cubist artist André Lhote in the 1920s before returning home to teach at Elam Art School in Auckland. |

We would like to acknowledge the past and give you the opportunity to express your memories about Motueka. Your snippet could include a memory about the tobacco era, the Hops industry, a visit to the Museum or library, or an event you attended.
