How to Survive as a Writer: David Hill's Inside Story
Thursday 6 June 2013
Renowned author David Hill will be visiting Richmond Library in June to present The Inside Story, a talk about his writing.
Children and Young Adults Librarian Lucy Brunwin says few New Zealand authors are as productive as David Hill.
"He's versatile - writing novels for both 10-15 year olds and adults. He's also a book reviewer and contributing columnist for The Listener and the New Zealand Herald."
His book My Brother's War has been shortlisted for this year’s New Zealand Post Children’s Book Awards.
"He has a keen sense of humour in his writing which he uses skilfully when tackling difficult subjects," Lucy says.
David says he likes writing about fears and embarrassments - common ground which we all recognize.
To hear about the challenges, techniques and inspirations needed to survive as a writer, reserve a place at The Inside Story. Book sales and book signings will be available.
- Thursday 20 June, 4.00 to 5.00 pm
- Phone Richmond Library on 543 8500 to book your seat.
