Friday 11 March 2016

The finalists of the 2016 Ockham New Zealand Book Awards have been announced this week

There are sixteen finalists in four categories - fiction, poetry, general non-fiction and illustrated non-fiction.

Included in the illustrated non-fiction category is Te Ara Puoro, written by Nelson man Richard Nunns with Allan Thomas.

Te Ara Puoro follows Nunns’ remarkable journey to rediscover his musical passion, and uncover and learn more about Maori instruments.  Nunns has gathered knowledge from elders all over New Zealand over the last 40 years to help him to revive, understand, recreate and master taonga puoro.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Tuesday May 10th on the opening night of the Auckland Writers Festival.
